Hippotherapy
Hippotherapy is a rehabilitative treatment strategy that utilizes the horse's movement to achieve functional outcomes.
- Hippotherapy is available to children 2-10 years of age from March through mid-December.
- The horse provides multidimensional movement, which is variable, rhythmic and repetitive.
- The horse provides a dynamic base of support, supporting trunk strength and control, balance, postural strength and endurance.
- The horse offers well modulated sensory input to vestibular, proprioceptive, tactile and visual systems.
- The horse's gait imparts movement responses remarkably similar to normal human gait.
